San Bao Temple

Fo Guang Shan Logo Fo Guang Shan San Bao Temple and Bookstore are located in the heart of San Francisco. It is one of the overseas temples of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist temple group. San Bao Temple was founded in 1989. San Bao Temple and Fo Guang Bookstore were inaugurated by Venerable Master Hsing Yun in 1991. Our four principles are : using culture to promote Buddhism; using education to cultivate qualified personnel; applying compassion and implementing charity to benefit society; using religious services to sanctify the mind.

San Bao Temple is temple from the Chan (also known as Zen) tradition. In our classes you can study about the basics of Buddhism, like the Four Noble Truths, that are common to all kinds of Buddhism. You can also study Buddhist sutras, and how to apply Buddhism in your everyday life. You will be welcome to ask any questions and share your ideas.
